Gilles Boin

Partner

Gilles is a recognized expert in French and European product law, with more than twenty years of experience. He is regularly recommended by The Legal 500 and the Lexology Client Choice Index, where he is described as “highly experienced” and “renowned for his expert advice and in-depth knowledge”.

 

Gilles assists major French and international groups with their compliance strategies in response to new regulations, market access for innovative products, the management of regulatory inspections, and crisis situations (including product withdrawals and recalls).

 

Accustomed to disputes involving regulatory authorities (DGCCRF, DDPP, SNE), he regularly represents clients before administrative and criminal courts.

Before founding QOLUMN, Gilles co-founded Product Law Firm and spent more than ten years at leading international law firms (Keller & Heckman, Hogan Lovells, Simmons & Simmons).

 

Highly involved in the product law community, he frequently speaks at conferences organized by EFLA (European Food Law Association), ICPHSO (International Consumer Product Health and Safety Organization), AIDV (International Wine Law Association) and the IBA (International Bar Association – Health and Life Sciences Law Committees).

 

Gilles also delivers professional training sessions and has taught food product litigation at the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne and at AgroParisTech.

He specialises in French and European Product Law. He is familiar with Government investigations and regularly appears in administrative and criminal courts. Gilles achieved the first acquittal in France in a CBD case for non-compliance of French law with European law before the Kanavape ruling.

 

Before creating Qolumn, Gilles co-founded Product Law Firm and practised at international law firms for more than 10 years (Keller & Heckman, Hogan Lovells, Simmons & Simmons).

 

Gilles provides regular professional training sessions. He has taught food litigation at the University of Paris I - Panthéon Sorbonne and AgroParisTech.

Gaëlle Saint-Jalmes

Gaëlle has recognized expertise in consumer product law and regulation, developed both as an attorney and as in-house counsel within a major global food company. Her cross-sector practice spans food, cosmetics, luxury goods, health, and wellness. She is regularly ranked by The Legal 500 (Next Generation Partner) and Best Lawyers (Regulatory Practice).
 
She advises clients throughout the entire lifecycle of their products: regulatory qualification, market access, consumer information, claim substantiation and marketing communication, environmental obligations, and sustainability-related requirements. In consumer law, her work includes advising on commercial practices, e-commerce, advertising, and sales promotions, including for products subject to specific regulatory frameworks (alcohol, tobacco, medical devices).
 
Her practice also includes strategic support to R&D, marketing, and regulatory affairs teams, as well as the management of interactions with regulatory authorities (DGCCRF, DDPP, advertising self-regulatory body, etc.) in pre-litigation and litigation contexts.
 
Gaëlle began her career at DDG before joining the international legal department of Danone, where she gained a deep operational understanding of industry challenges. She returned to private practice in 2018 as Counsel at Osborne Clarke, where she developed the “consumer & product” practice, before co-founding QOLUMN in 2021.

As a lawyer and then in-house counsel, Gaëlle Saint-Jalmes has developed significant expertise in food law and regulation (nutritional and health claims, labeling, food supplements, special diets, etc.).

She also has solid experience in the regulation of cosmetic and health products (particularly medical devices), as well as in sustainable development issues applied to consumer products.

Her expertise in consumer law covers unfair commercial practices, e-commerce, sales promotion and advertising, in particular with respect to regulated products (alcohol and tobacco).

 

Gaëlle started her career at the DDG law firm before joining the international legal department of Danone for 4 years. She returned to the legal profession in 2018 as Counsel at Osborne Clarke, where she developed the consumer and product law practice, before co-founding Qolumn in 2021.

For more than fifteen years, Pierre has developed deep expertise in food law through a rich and complementary professional background.

After completing a Master’s degree in European Union Law, he began his career at a well-regarded law firm, where he spent several years specializing in consumer and product law.

He then joined Danone as a Food Law Counsel, gaining in-depth knowledge of the operations and regulatory expectations of a major international group.

Pierre later joined a leading technical center in the food sector, where he headed the regulatory department and advised French companies of all sizes on their compliance challenges.

Drawing on this diverse experience, Pierre now brings his expertise and practical insight to support product manufacturers in navigating complex product law and regulatory compliance issues.

Depuis plus de quinze ans, Pierre a développé une expertise approfondie en droit des produits alimentaire au travers d’un parcours professionnel riche et complémentaire.

Après un Master en droit de l’Union européenne, il débute sa carrière au sein d'un cabinet d’avocats réputé, où il se spécialise durant plusieurs années en droit de la consommation et des produits.

Il rejoint ensuite Danone en qualité de Juriste Food Law, où il acquière une connaissance fine du fonctionnement et des exigences d’un grand groupe international.

Pierre intègre par la suite un centre technique de référence dans le secteur alimentaire, où il dirige le département réglementation et accompagne quotidiennement des entreprises françaises de toutes tailles sur leurs enjeux de conformité.

Fort de cette expérience diversifiée, Pierre met aujourd’hui son expérience et son savoir-faire au service des fabricants de produits pour les aider à naviguer les problématiques complexes de droit des produits et de conformité réglementaire.

Since 2022, Marine has been advising the firm’s French and international clients on a wide range of product law and regulatory issues.

She specializes in product and packaging sustainability issues (e.g., the Triman logo), compliance with the new general product safety regulation, regulatory compliance obligations applicable to e-commerce platforms, and the validation of marketing and advertising materials.

Marine gained valuable experience working in-house as a Regulatory Risk Management Intern at a large pet food company, where she honed her understanding of how adequate regulatory management can support businesses from within.

Marine holds a Master’s degree (Master 2) in European Business and Competition Law from Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas.

Depuis 2022, Marine conseille les clients français et internationaux du cabinet sur un large éventail de questions liées au droit et à la réglementation des produits.

Elle intervient notamment sur les problématiques de durabilité des produits et des emballages (par exemple le logo Triman), sur la mise en conformité au nouveau règlement sur la sécurité générale des produits, sur les obligations réglementaires de conformité applicables aux plateformes de e-commerce ainsi que sur la validation des supports marketing et publicitaires.

Forte d’une expérience en tant que regulatory risk manager au sein d’un leader mondial du pet food, Marine dispose d’une compréhension opérationnelle précise des besoins des équipes internes d’une entreprise (R&D, marketing, commerciales, etc.) et des enjeux concrets de conformité.

Marine est titulaire d’un Master 2 en droit européen des affaires et de la concurrence de l’Université Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas.

Bérénice Poirier

Bérénice advises and supports the firm’s clients in managing contentious matters involving product compliance or product safety.

She assists in administrative and criminal proceedings related to product law, including DGCCRF investigations for regulatory non-compliance, preparing clients for voluntary criminal hearings, and filing appeals against administrative injunctions issued by regulatory authorities.

Before joining QOLUMN, Bérénice worked in the litigation departments of Paris-based law firms, notably in the highly regulated banking and financial sector. She also gained in-house experience within the legal department of a major luxury group.

Bérénice holds a dual degree in Law and Economics/Management, as well as a Master’s degree in Banking and Financial Law.

Avant de rejoindre QOLUMN, Bérénice a exercé au sein de départements contentieux de cabinets d’avocats parisiens, notamment dans le secteur fortement réglementé du droit bancaire et financier. Elle dispose également d’une expérience au sein de la direction juridique d’un grand acteur du luxe.

Bérénice est titulaire d’un double diplôme en droit et économie-gestion, ainsi que d’un Master en droit bancaire et financier.

Karla joined QOLUMN in 2025, where she assists clients with product law matters, market access strategies, and the management of regulatory and litigation issues.

Thanks to her academic background and experience in pharma law, Karla works more specifically with clients in the life sciences and wellness sectors, including food supplements, infant nutrition, dietary products, cosmetics, and medical devices.

Before becoming an attorney, Karla worked for two years at L’Oréal and Organon within their regulatory affairs and legal departments. She also gained experience in a biotech company specializing in precision medicine and artificial intelligence. As part of her legal training, she also completed an internship in the Life Sciences department of DLA Piper.

Karla holds two Master’s degrees: one in Health Law (Paris II Panthéon-Assas) and one in Pharmaceutical Law (Paris V Descartes).
